Hundreds of thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at several Delhi border points, including Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur, since November 28, demanding a complete repeal of three farm laws and a legal guarantee on minimum support price for their crops.
"Most of the farmers are protesting against reforms of the agriculture sector, which they say benefit big private buyers at the expense of growers," Balwinder Singh Wraich said. "We are honoured to be supporting the protests on the ground through our cousin Harpreet singh with his local villagers team, who are working to provide Langar and other essential commodities at this time."
The government says agriculture reform will open up new opportunities for farmers.
