UK Daily Telegraph named NRI Sanjay Vadera
of Per-Scent is one of the "40
most successful young entrepreneurs"
Sanjay Vadera, 37 is chief executive of Manchester-based
fragrance distributor Per Scent.
Per-Scent now supplies retailers such as Asda, Superdrug
and the Perfume Shop. The company was mulling over a flotation
until Icelandic investor Karl Wersson spent a cool £42m
on a 65pc stake to keep it private.
Mr Vadera says he has always been a bit of a risk taker,
"although it doesn't seem much of a risk when you're
a student and living with your parents".
He believes clarity of purpose and determination lie at
the heart of his success: "I've always had a vision
in mind, and wasn't going to give up at a certain point."
"I think I've got the key qualities to be an entrepreneur,"
Mr Vadera adds. "My family taught me so much and gave
me my confidence."
Mr. VaderaHe started the business while working in a stop-gap
job in the menswear section of a department store while
he was doing a business and physics degree. "I was
always looking at opportunities and there used to be a concession
selling jewellery," he recalls. "When the jewellery
concession disappeared overnight I asked if I could do perfumes
there. I already knew a perfume supplier."
