NRI Vivek Chaand Sehgal, billionaire businessman and the chairman of Samvardhana Motherson Group, a leading auto parts manufacturer. Born on February 1, 1957, in Delhi, India, Sehgal co-founded the company in 1975 alongside his mother, initially entering the silver trade before pivoting to the automotive industry. Under his leadership, the group expanded globally, acquiring 11 companies in 12 years and forming a key partnership with Sumitomo Electric.
Sehgal served as the company’s managing director until 1995 before stepping back from daily operations and assuming the role of chairman. His achievements earned him the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in India in 2016.
As of October 2024, Sehgal and his family were ranked 30th on Forbes’ list of India’s richest, with a net worth of $8.9 billion. The Financial Review Rich List estimated his wealth at A$4.2 billion in May 2023. Sehgal lives in Delhi with his wife and two children.
