help and develop an Indian model based on the US model

This will help India attract patients from the Western
countries. If India develops skills in the area of
hospital accreditation, quality control work can also
be outsourced," feels Dr Navin Shah, a Washington
DC-based doctor and a diplomate of the American Board
of Quality Assurance.
NRI doctors with expertise can help Indian authorities
create an Indian model and also provide annual updates
for the system to keep up with the latest trends.
To provide accreditation for hospitals with over 100
beds, NRI doctors in America, to begin with, will
provide three experts to help develop the US model
of Medicare in Mumbai, he said.
In the US, hospitals or companies which send patients
overseas are liable for litigation if anything goes
wrong. Indian-American doctors have been working with
the Indian government on this issue for over four
years now, but the project has not yet taken off,"
Dr Shah said.
