Los Angeles-OFBJP celebrates BJP's Victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Elections

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won the  recent State assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) organized an event under the leadership of Shri PK Nayak, coordinator of OFBJP Los Angeles chapter, on December 28 to celebrate this victory.

The event started with “Vande Mataram”, followed by welcome address by Shri Vijay Patil who congratulated the members for the recent victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Shri PK Nayak provided the overview of the objectives and highlighted the need of increasing membership. Shri Parima Shah introduced the community leaders and senior members of OFBJP team that were in attendance.

Shri Vijay Patil played a video from BJP government called “Sankalp se Siddhi” that summarized the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the development of India and appealed the audience to take a pledge to support the efforts of building New India - clean, corruption free, terrorism free and poverty free India by 2022.

The summary of the recent elections was presented by Shri Gopal Chaturvedi. Various factors in the elections as well as the vision of long-term development in India were presented in detail.

Dr. Surendra Sharma, former President of OFBJP in UK, shared his thoughts on critical issues facing India. He laid out a well structured plan of the work ahead that needs to be carried out in India as well as overseas. He emphasized the need of getting involved in local community and reaching out to local congressmen and senators to get their attention on issues/events that are critical to the success of India.

Several OFBJP members -- including Shri Keshavlal Patel, Shri Kanaksinh Zala, and Shri Yogi Patel -- had travelled to India to help BJP with the elections. They were honored at the event, and presented flowers by Shri Babubhai Gandhi, Sanghchalak of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh. Shri Kanaksinh Zala shared his first-hand experiences of field work in India, which was not only informative, but also inspiring.

A number of audience members had a chance to share their thoughts as well. Dr Amrit Nehru, Ms Kamlesh Chauhan, Ms Vasu Pawar, Dr Rangesh Gadasili, we're among those who took the opportunity and shared their valuable insights.

The event was concluded by Shri Sourabh Tandon who thanked the organizers including Shri Jashbhai Patel, Shri Latesh Bhambani, Shri Anil Mahajan, distinguished guests, as well as the attendees to make the event a success.
