In India, education institutes
are given utmost respect and equated as _Vidya Ka Mandir, but
                corruption.......

                Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal
In India, Education institutes are given utmost respect and
equated as “Vidya Ka Mandir”. But corruption in educational
system right from recruitment of teachers to their promotions
and admissions of students to their examination have now become
a major challenge to the Education System in India. Bringing one
such case of embezzlement to light, Senior BJP Leader and Punjab
State Chief BJP Inv¬¬estor Cell, Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal
rued massive irregularities in appointments and otherwise in Khalsa
                College for Women.
Grewal stated that Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana
advertised a position for the post of Lecturer in Business Management
on regular basis as per the qualifications and conditions laid
down by the University Grants Commission on 15th March, 2009 through
                various vernacular dailies.
“Call Letters for Interview were issued to a favourable
few on 29th July, 2009 which can be substantiated from the fact
that the candidates who were not even UGC Net cleared were also
issued call letters wherein UGC Net was the primary qualification
requirement for the above position as advertised and as per the
UGC, Punjab Government and Punjab University rules”, added
                Grewal.
Further, Panelists of Punjab University who interviewed the candidates
on 07th August, 2009 were influenced to ensure they recommend
a specific candidate of choice of the Principal and Management
of Khalsa College for Women. “Considering blatant violations
in the selection procedure, I requested information about the
selection procedure and file notings etc. under Right to Information
Act, 2005 on 03rd September, 2009 through Registered Post but
till date the Public Information Officer of the Khalsa College
for Women was unable to respond to that despite repeated reminder
and elapse of 1 month deadline under the act.”
It is worth mentioning that college authorities didn’t gave
a damn to the instructions of the Honourable Vice Chancellor,
Punjab University who also ordered them to provide the information
requested under Right to Information Act on time to the applicant.
Grewal stated that he will now appeal to the appellate authority
to provide the aforesaid information and will ensure that the
guilty are brought to book and the excellent candidate gets its
                right.

              Farmers
of Punjab are not vagabonds which survive on "sarkari alms"
and they had enough of this "freewala culture"- Grewal
              Ludhiana, Oct. 07, 2009
                Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal
Punjab contributes maximum production of Wheat
and Paddy across India despite acute power and labour shortage
across state and adverse climatic conditions. Despite being the
highest producer of Wheat and Paddy per hectare, the profits of
the hard working Punjab farmer are getting diminutive. Reason,
increased input costs, farmer today is bearing an additional daily
brunt of Diesel to pump water from its Tubewells which is equivalent
to Monthly Power subsidy given by the Punjab Government. Senior
BJP Leader and Punjab State Chief of BJP Investor Cell, Sukhminderpal
Singh Grewal brought to the notice of Punjab State BJP President,
Professor Rajinder Bhandari the sorry state of Punjab Farmer and
demanded that Government should establish means to provide 24
hrs Power Supply as promised in its manifesto as its 3 years deadline
is about to complete in February, 2010.
Talking with Farmers and media persons at his Office
at Bhamian Kalan, Grewal added that farmers of Punjab are not
vagabonds which survive on “sarkari alms” and they
had enough of this “freewala culture”. So, the need
of the hour is that Government should abolish all subsidies and
arrange to provide 24 hours power supply at a cost. Grewal aggrieved
that when Punjab tops the overall country’s production of
Wheat and Paddy then Punjab Government should apply pressure upon
Centre Government for equivalent hike in Minimum Support Price
considering the increased input cost of our farmers.
Grewal demanded that considering the acute power
shortage Punjab Government should decrease its Distribution and
Transmission losses, ban misuse of electricity in Malls, Hoardings,
Showrooms, Marriage Palaces and penalise those found guilty. He
said Punjab Government should look for the reasons as to why the
Power Projects which were to get operational by now have failed
to commission even. He further stated that considering the “Global
Recession” Punjab Government should sympathise with the
Industrialists and Traders of Punjab and arrange to provide adequate
power supply. Grewal wondered that when BJP led Government of
Gujarat had already set an example by providing 24 hours Power
and Water Supply even in remote villages and at nominal cost then
young and dynamic leadership of SAD-BJP combine should take proactive
decisions to improve the Power condition of Punjab.
