BJP’s RMS Chhina Hails Centre’s Decision on Shifting of Border Fence

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Senior BJP leader, today expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for issuing a notification regarding the shifting of the barbed wire fence along the Indo-Pak international border in Punjab.
The long-pending issue pertains to the fencing constructed during the 1990s, ‘locking up’ thousands of acres of productive and fertile agriculture land as the fence was laid several meters and in some cases even kilometres inside Indian territory due to security concerns. This was causing persistent hardships to farmers who faced restricted access to their own land for cultivation.
Welcoming the recent notification, Chhina stated that this decision reflects the Prime Minister’s
strong commitment towards the welfare of farmers and the resolution of genuine public
grievances. He added that he had written the request for re-location of the fence in December
last year and was happy that the decision by Union government now will bring much-needed
relief to affected farmers and help restore agricultural productivity in border areas.
He further stated that this step would not only benefit the farming community but also strengthen
border management and help curb cross-border smuggling activities in the region. Chhina also
appreciated the consistent efforts of the Central Government in addressing critical issues
affecting Punjab and expressed hope that the implementation of the notification will be carried
out in a timely and effective manner.
Reiterating his gratitude, he praised the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and continued
support for the people of Punjab. He also acknowledged the proactive and result-oriented
governance of both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, noting that the farming
community has welcomed the decision with immense relief and optimism.
RMS Chhina expressed confidence that this step would usher in a new era of security,
prosperity, and trust in the border areas of Punjab and reaffirmed his faith in the leadership of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
