NRI Vaibhav Taneja, Tesla CFO, appointed as Elon Musk’s America Party as treasurer

Vaibhav Taneja, the 47‑year‑old Indian‑American Chief Financial Officer of Tesla, has been officially listed as the Treasurer and Custodian of Records for Elon Musk’s newly announced political organization, the America Party, in filings submitted to the U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Musk revealed the formation of the America Party via a post on X on 5 July, stating the party’s goal is to “give you back your freedom” and challenge what he called the entrenched two‑party system.
Taneja’s appointment comes as paperwork emerged showing his role includes oversight of all financial transactions, compliance, and keeping for the party.
Taneja, a Delhi University commerce graduate and former PwC veteran, joined Tesla in 2017 via the SolarCity acquisition and ascended to the CFO position in August 2023. He made headlines earlier this year for his $139 million compensation in 2024.
