On October 24, 2018, US President Donald nominated Neil Chatterjee as Chairman 2nd time of FERC (The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission). He also served as Chairman from August 2017 to December 2017 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in August 2017.  He is currently one of the three commissioners of FERC.

Chatterjee said, "It is with a heavy heart that I step into this role while my friend and colleague, Kevin McIntyre, focuses on what's most important: his recovery and his family."
Chatterjee further said, "Although this is a difficult period for the Commission, I want to assure my fellow Commissioners, staff within the building and stakeholders outside it, that it's my full intention to build upon Kevin's hard work. But above all, I look forward to the day when my friend is back at full capacity."

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. FERC also reviews proposals to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines as well as licensing hydropower projects. Under FERC, he is responsible all Licenses and inspects private, municipal, and state hydroelectric projects, Enforces FERC regulatory requirements, and regulates the transmission and wholesale sales of electricity in interstate commerce

BIO:

He brought up at Lexington, KY, he is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and the University of Cincinnati, College of Law. Chairman Chatterjee is married and has three children. His parents moved to the US from Kolkata some 50 years ago.

Prior to joining the Commission, he was energy policy advisor to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Over the years Chairman Chatterjee has played an integral role in the passage of major energy, highway, and agriculture legislation.

He worked as a Principal in Government Relations for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and as an aide to House Republican Conference Chairwoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH).

He began his career in Washington, D.C., with the House Committee on Ways and Means.
