NRI Shailesh Jejurikar has been appointed by Procter & Gamble (P&G) as its next president and chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2026. He will succeed CEO John Moller, who will transition to the role of executive chairman.
Jejurikar’s promotion marks a landmark moment: he becomes the first India-born executive to head P&G in the American consumer goods giant’s nearly 200-year history, and only the second non-U.S. born CEO after 187 years.
His leadership begins amid a time of global economic volatility, trade headwinds, and corporate restructuring: P&G has announced plans to cut approximately 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and resilience.
The transition reflects P&G’s long-standing internal succession approach and underscores the increasing influence of Indian-origin professionals in global corporate leadership roles.
BIOGRAPHY:
Jejurikar, born in Mumbai, joined P&G in 1989 after earning an MBA from IIM Lucknow. Over the course of more than three decades, he has held leadership roles across global regions and businesses — notably in the Fabric & Home Care division, which includes brands like Tide and Ariel. He was elevated to COO in 2021.
