NRI Poorva Joshipura, activist, has been appointed as the first-ever President of PETA International, marking a historic milestone for the global animal rights movement.
Joshipura, who has been associated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for more than two decades, has played a pivotal role in advancing campaigns across the United States, the UK, and India. Known for her strong advocacy against animal cruelty, she has spearheaded initiatives on issues ranging from factory farming and animal testing to the promotion of vegan lifestyles.
As President of PETA International, Joshipura will oversee the organization’s worldwide operations and strategy, focusing on expanding outreach, strengthening cross-border collaboration, and shaping policies to protect animals on a global scale.
In a statement, PETA’s leadership praised her dedication and vision, calling her appointment a “transformative step for the movement,” while supporters hailed her as an inspiration for young activists worldwide.
