NRI Rustom Bhagwagar, Delta Co-pilot, Arrested in Child Sex Abuse Case

NRI Rustom Bhagwagar, 34, co-pilot with Delta Air Lines, was arrested aboard Flight 2809 upon its landing at San Francisco International Airport. Homeland Security agents and Contra Costa County deputies stormed the cockpit and detained him shortly after the plane landed from Minneapolis at around 9:35 PM.
He faces five felony charges of oral copulation with a child under 10, and a broader 24-count complaint includes charges like aggravated sexual assault, forcible lewd acts, and sexual contact with a minor—allegations spanning from 2018 to 2023.
Booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, Bhagwagar is being held on $5 million bail. He is expected to face arraignment on July 30, with a court date scheduled for August 19. A 45-year-old woman—alleged to be the victim’s mother and ex‑girlfriend—is also facing charges and held on a similar bond.
Delta Airlines confirmed Bhagwagar’s suspension and expressed distress, stating the company maintains zero tolerance for misconduct and is fully cooperating with authorities.
