Singh Sagar, a 37-year-old Indian citizen, has been charged with multiple counts of theft after allegedly stealing items valued at over $1,800 from five different shops at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 on March 23.

The alleged thefts took place between 2:00pm and 4:50pm, starting at WH Smith bookstore. Authorities say Sagar took merchandise worth more than $550 from the store, including three stationery sets and a power bank.

He then reportedly targeted four other stores — The Cocoa Trees, Discover Singapore, Kaboom, and Victoria’s Secret — where he allegedly stole chocolates worth over $238, various pieces of jewellery, T-shirts, watches, and a $135 handbag.

Police said in a statement on April 6 that Sagar was stopped before he could leave the country. He was charged with five counts of theft on April 7 and is scheduled to plead guilty on April 25.

This case comes just days after another reported theft at Changi Airport. On April 4, Australian national Raj Varsha, 35, was charged in connection with a March 2023 incident in which she allegedly stole a $248 bottle of Chanel perfume from Terminal 1 before boarding her flight. She was arrested on March 31, 2025, upon returning to Singapore and is expected to plead guilty on April 11.

If convicted, each theft charge carries a possible sentence of up to seven years in prison, along with a fine.
