National University of Singapore (NUS) is set to welcome three distinguished alumni to its Board of Trustees on April 1, 2024. Among them are Justice Judith Prakash, Mr. Tan Chong Meng, and Mr. Ravi Menon, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the esteemed board.

Justice Judith Prakash, renowned for her groundbreaking achievements in the legal field, served as a permanent judge of Singapore's Court of Appeal, becoming the first woman to hold such a position in 2016. With a career spanning over three decades, Justice Prakash's contributions to arbitration, commercial law, family law, and trusts have left an indelible mark both locally and internationally. Her return as Senior Judge in January 2024 signals her continued commitment to legal excellence.

Mr. Tan Chong Meng, former Group CEO of PSA International, boasts an impressive track record in global port management and strategic leadership. Prior to his tenure at PSA, Mr. Tan held pivotal roles at the Royal Dutch Shell Group, garnering extensive experience across diverse operational landscapes. His appointment brings invaluable insights into supply chain management, economic recovery strategies, and corporate governance.

Mr. Ravi Menon, Singapore's longest-serving Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), has been instrumental in shaping the nation's financial landscape. Under his stewardship, MAS implemented robust monetary policies, spearheaded financial regulatory reforms, and positioned Singapore as a leading hub for green finance and FinTech innovation. Mr. Menon's vast experience in international finance and governance is poised to guide NUS through complex economic landscapes.

Welcoming the new appointees, Mr. Hsieh Fu Hua, Chairman of the NUS Board, expressed confidence in their ability to enrich board discussions and provide invaluable perspectives amid dynamic challenges. The trio's collective expertise is poised to steer NUS towards greater heights in the ever-evolving global education landscape.

As the Board welcomes new members, it bids farewell to three esteemed non-executive members – Ambassador-at-Large Prof Chan Heng Chee, Dr. Sudha Nair, and Mr. Andrew Lim Ming-Hui – whose invaluable contributions and steadfast dedication have significantly influenced NUS's strategic direction. Their departure marks the end of an era characterized by unwavering commitment to the university's mission and values.

With 20 members currently serving on the Board, appointed by the Minister for Education, NUS remains steadfast in its commitment to harnessing diverse perspectives and expertise to shape its vision and drive transformative initiatives in education, research, and innovation. As the university navigates through an increasingly complex landscape, the collective wisdom of its trustees remains instrumental in charting a course towards excellence and impact on a global scale.
