A group of seven men from Punjab and Haryana, anticipating a joyous New Year's celebration in Russia, have found themselves ensnared in a harrowing situation. Instead of ringing in the new year with festivities, their dreams were shattered as they were allegedly coerced into joining Russia's military and subsequently dispatched to participate in Moscow's conflict with Ukraine.

Seven Indians, identified as Gagandeep Singh - 24 years-old, Lovepreet Singh - - 24 years-old, Narain Singh - 22 years-old, Gurpreet Singh - 21 years-old, Gurpreet Singh - 23 years-old, Harsh Kumar - 20 years-old, and Abhishek Kumar - 21 years-old, have released a video on X, asserting that they have been duped into unwittingly joining the Russian army.

This alarming revelation follows closely on the heels of recent headlines involving three other Indian men whose families disclosed a similar distressing narrative. These individuals were initially enticed with promises of improved job prospects, only to find themselves unwittingly enlisted in the Russian army and deployed to the frontlines amid the ongoing Ukraine war.

The recurrence of such cases raises serious concerns about the methods employed by recruiters, highlighting the vulnerability of Indian nationals who may fall victim to deceptive practices. Families and communities are now grappling with the anguish of loved ones being thrust into a conflict zone under false pretenses.

As the plight of these individuals gains attention, questions arise about the diplomatic channels and international mechanisms in place to address such situations. Calls for prompt action to ensure the safety and repatriation of these men are intensifying, putting pressure on both Indian and Russian authorities to investigate and rectify the alleged deceptive recruitment practices.

The unfolding situation adds a humanitarian dimension to the broader geopolitical context, shedding light on the human toll of the Ukraine conflict. Beyond the political dynamics, the stories of these individuals underscore the urgent need for global efforts to safeguard the rights and well-being of those unwittingly caught in the crossfire of conflicts they never signed up for.

In the wake of these distressing incidents, there is a growing chorus advocating for preventive measures to safeguard individuals from falling prey to deceptive recruitment practices. The international community is urged to cooperate in addressing these challenges, ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals and preventing the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in the future.

In a video now accessible on X, the men, clad in military-style winter jackets with hoods or skull caps, recount the perplexing circumstances that led them into this predicament. According to their narrative, they embarked on a journey to Russia on December 27th of the previous year with the intention of celebrating the New Year. One of the men in the video reveals that they were approached by an agent who, after showcasing the country's attractions, proposed taking them to Belarus. Unaware of the visa requirement, they crossed into Belarus without proper documentation, only to find themselves abandoned by the agent who demanded additional.

funds. Subsequently, the group encountered legal issues, as they were apprehended by the police and handed over to Russian authorities. Forced to sign unspecified documents, their situation took an unexpected turn, leading them into the complex web of Russia's military involvement.
