NRI (non-resident Indian) Akhil Chopra, 26, was shot
to death, 1 p.m. at Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza Park,
13500 Ashford Point Drive. A passerby spotted the
body of Akhil Chopra at picnic bench.
Robbery is considered the most likely motive because
the victim's wallet and a weapon were not found at
the scene.He could be meditating in a park near his
office when the incident happened.
Chopra's friends said they will contact Houston Crime
Stoppers today and offer a $5,000 reward for information
leading to the assailant's arrest.
Akhil Chopra, a computer professional and an active
volunteer for the Hindu Students Council. In 2001,
he came to the US from India to study for a master's
degree. He had been very active in Indian community.
Every Sunday he was the voice of the news in Hindi
for Sanatan Radio Programme.
He was a yoga teacher and smiling all the time. He
was single and lived with a friend. All his is nearest
