Milledgeville, Georgia, Aug 31, 2006
Dr. Sunder Das
NRI Ketan Patel's body was identified with dental
records after autopsy is being performed to find out
who died in a burning Honda car over the weekend in
Baldwin County.
Sheriff Bill Massee says passers-by noticed the car
burning in a clearing off Lingold Road around 3 p.m.
Saturday. Firefighters responded, and while putting
out the fire, Sheriff Massee says they noticed human
remains inside. He was not specific on where exactly
they were found in the car. Massee then called in
the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help in the
case.
Authorities also later traced the car's tag and tracked
down some people connected to it. Captain Spires says
Patel was 24 years old and comes from Milledgeville.
The cause of death is listed as smoke inhalation.
He says there were no signs of foul play at the scene
and the investigation is continuing.
The car was used by Patel but registered in his
father's name, said Baldwin county sheriff's department
captain Chris Spires.
