US NRI's model, singer wife, commits suicide in Punjab

Bhanu Verma, model and singer was found dead/ allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her flat at Gulmohar City, Derabassi in Punjab. According to local media, she might be 26 or 22 and it is not confirmed. Bhanu Vema's cousin Dinesh Thakur has lodged a complaint with police alleging that if any foul play.

She was well known in Punjab's modeling and music video industry and her latest videos is to be released on a TV channel on November 25, 2007. Bhanu had featured in several Punjabi music videos with leading singers like Gurdas Mann.

NRI husband Kuldip Singh Bhangu, 58 who runs a computer business in US, married Bhanu Verma alias Bano alias Sunita Hira in 2004. In 2003, Bhanu Verma rented a part of his house in Sector 11 D, Chandigarh, and Kuldip was also staying in the house.

She developed a sexual relationship with Kuldip and became pregnant. Kuldip married her and bought her a spacious flat and provided her a luxury car. It is said that Bhanu from Sirmour, Himachal Pradesh was orphaned at the age of 15, belongs to poor background, and was struggling to be a model and singer.

Her husband and a servant were also present in the flat at that time when she bolted the door from inside and killed herself. Kuldip told police that she had been 'depressed' for the last few days after their two-year-old son died on November 01 following illness. She always telling him that their son would become a big actor one day.

Kuldeep said, “I came back from the US after got the message about Shaan."

Kuldip has been settled in US since 1967. He has also wife and three children in the US. It is not confirmed that he has officially divorced her or not.

Derabassi police have verified the facts and there seems to be no foul play in the woman’s death.
