Four of NRI family die in collision

Four persons from a NRI family including a woman
died on the spot while one woman was seriously injured when the
car in which they were travelling to Amaritsar was hit by a truck
coming from opposite direction near Shekupura village near here
on Friday morning. The seriously injured woman was rushed to Batala
Civil hospital where her condition was reported to be serious.
The accident victims who belonged to Bhule Chak
village near Gurdaspur were going to pay obeisance at Golden Temple.
The driver of the truck that caused accident is absconding.
Batala SSP RN Doke said Gurdeep Singh, his two sons Manmohan
Singh and Manjit Singh, and wife Rupinder Kaur were killed on
the spot while Kuldeep Kaur, wife of Gurdeep Singh was seriously
injured when a truck (PB-02-AJ-9635) belonging to Narula Roadways
hit the car (PB-06-E6767) at around 6 am on Friday morning.
Batala Sadar police station SHO Sukhbir Singh said a dead cow
was also found lying near the accident site, but it is yet to
be ascertained whether it was also killed in the accident.
The bodies of accident victims were handed over to their family
for cremation after postmortem at Batala Civil Hospital.
