NRI Kuldip Singh, 42, a former Metropolitan Police officer, has been sentenced to four years and five months in prison for his involvement in a “crash for cash” insurance fraud scheme in the UK.
Singh was part of a group that arranged deliberate vehicle collisions and submitted fraudulent personal injury and vehicle damage claims to insurance companies. In one 2016 incident, five fraudulent injury claims were submitted, totalling £33,362, although only £912 was paid.
Singh also operated a car-hire company and was involved in false insurance claims concerning rented vehicles. He was dismissed from the Metropolitan Police in 2017 for gross misconduct and later extradited from Georgia to the UK in March 2026.
He pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to fraud-related offences, including conspiracy to commit fraud and offences involving perverting the course of justice. The court also disqualified him from acting as a company director for five years.
