Jasmir Singh, beaten and stabbed in his left eye in Queens

NRI Jasmir Singh, 21, Sikh man of Richmond Hill was beaten and
stabbed in his left eye in Queens by three men about 4:49 a.m. on
Sunday.
Jasmir Singh with his white friend was near a Jackson Heights grocery
store when three men start taunting him about his hair and beard.
His friend was unharmed in the attack. The men demanded money and
but attacked him even after he showed that he had no cash by showing
his empty pockets.
The men dragged him from the store, cut his eye with a bottle stabbed
back and chest. Jasbir was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center for
treatment.
Jasmir Singh said:
- They were taunting me about my hair and beard. They were pulling
on it. They touched my hair and my beard and questioned why I
had it so long, said that they were gonna cut it
- He suffered cuts on the top of his head and across his right
eye
- He has 18 stitches on his left eye and may go blind
- It was racial
Jiwan Singh, father of Jasbir said:
- His family had been repeatedly attacked because of the way
they look.
- It keeps happening to my family
- We both worked at Ground Zero on 9/11
- We voted for Obama. We hoped things would get better but it
hasn't
According to media, on Monday, the Police has arrested two men
and were searching for a third suspect. The two suspects have been
charged with attempted robbery and assault.
