Saketh Sreenivasaiah, 22, a student at the University of California, Berkeley, has been recovered days after he was reported missing. He had last been seen on February 10, and search operations led county dive teams to Lake Anza, where his body was discovered.

Sreenivasaiah, originally from Karnataka, was pursuing a Master of Science degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering at UC Berkeley. His disappearance had raised concern among friends and family, particularly after his backpack containing his passport and laptop was found in the Park Hills area, according to local media reports.

The Indian Consulate in San Francisco confirmed the tragic development in a statement on X, expressing profound grief and extending condolences to his family. The Consulate said it is coordinating closely with local authorities and is prepared to assist with all necessary procedures, including arrangements to return his remains to India. Officials added that consular representatives are in continuous contact with the family to provide support.

During the search, local law enforcement had urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could help trace his whereabouts. Reports from the university’s student newspaper also noted that his roommate had expressed concern over his emotional well-being shortly before he went missing.
