Dr. SV Anchan, Chairman of the Safesea Group Honored for Maritime Leadership by Bahrain Chamber and UN Agency

Dr. SV Anchan, has been internationally recognized for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the industry in the maritime sector.

Chairman of the Safesea Group, Dr. SV Anchan was presented with the ACE Global Bridges 2026 – Global Maritime Personality for Performance & Leadership Award by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Washington-based ACE Health Foundation.

The award was conferred during a special ceremony hosted by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry on February 8, attended by senior industry representatives and international stakeholders.

Dr. Anchan expressed sincere appreciation for the recognition and highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation, reinforcing strategic partnerships, and advancing sustainable collaboration across the maritime sector.

Dr. SV Anchan said:

• Such recognition serves to encourage industry leaders to further enhance professional standards, pursue innovation, and contribute meaningfully to global economic development and maritime safety.
• He reflected on his long-standing association with the Kingdom of Bahrain, recalling visits dating back to 2001 and highlighting his role in the United Nations Oil-for-Food Programme established after the Iraq–Kuwait conflict.
• He had the privilege of overseeing the first vessel to operate under the programme in the region, an experience he described as both historically significant and professionally meaningful in shaping his connection with Bahrain.
• Bahrain’s potential for further growth and leadership in the maritime sector is substantial and far-reaching.
• Bahrain’s strategic vision and historical trajectory clearly reflect an understanding of the critical role maritime capability plays in long-term national success.
