A HOUSE belonging to NRI Kartar Singh in Sector 2
was burgled today with burglars reportedly decamping
with around Rs 6 lakh, which included around 5800
in pound sterling and Rs 60,000 in Indian currency.
Some important documents are also said to be missing.
Katar Singh and his wife had left the house at around
12.30 pm today to have lunch with his nephews who
live in Mohali.
At around 2.30 pm, their neighbour, Lt Col P.P.
Kapila noticed the gate of the Singh residence open.
He became suspicious as he knew that Kartar and wife
were not at home. Kapila first locked the door and
then informed Kartar about the incident.
When Kartar reached his house around 3.30 pm, he
found the almirah in his bedroom forced open and valuables
stolen. He then informed the police. The forensic
team will come on Tuesday to pick finger prints. Kartar
suspects his servants involvement in the burglary,
since he leaves the house under the servants
care when he leaves for England. Kartar said he has
been informed that friends of this servant visit the
house in his absence.
