The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued an advisory on Wednesday, October 2, urging Indian nationals in Israel to remain alert amid escalating tensions and missile strikes from Iran. This follows increased conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with strikes hitting northern Israel. The MEA has advised Indian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran and urged those already in the region to stay vigilant and keep in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
The advisory comes after Iran launched a series of missile strikes at Israel late Tuesday, claiming retaliation for recent Israeli military actions. In response, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv also issued guidance, advising citizens to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay close to safety shelters. Emergency contact numbers and an email address were shared for assistance.
Tensions have surged in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and Hezbollah. Hezbollah's missile attacks have forced over a million Israelis into shelters, while the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have retaliated by targeting Hezbollah positions and a Hamas tunnel network in Gaza. Iran's missile strikes have led Israel to close its airspace, and Hezbollah’s leadership has vowed to continue the conflict despite losing its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
The MEA continues to monitor the situation closely, and Indian citizens are encouraged to follow local safety protocols and stay connected with the Indian authorities in the region.
