Ceiling for NRI projects increased to Rs 50 crore
The Punjab Government
has increased the ceiling of providing matching grant
up to Rs 50 crore, on the NRI-sponsored rural development
projects.
A NRI Sabha spokesman said here today that the state
government had been implementing 'Plan Scheme CD 2.35'
on matching grant basis to encourage Non-Resident
Indians (NRIs) to undertake rural development projects.
Under the scheme, fifty per cent of the project cost
is funded by NRI or NGO, while 50 per cent matching
fund is allocated by the government. Presently, the
ceiling for the grant was Rs one crore but now the
government had decided to provide funds up to any
extent even to the tune of Rs 50 crore, the spokesman
said.
