Dr. K.J. Srinivasa

Ambassador Dr. K.J. Srinivasa, currently serves as the first ever Consul General of India in Los Angeles since September 2025.

-From 2019 to 2023, he served as the Indian High Commissioner (Ambassador) to Guyana, concurrently accredited to CARICOM and four Caribbean

-Dr. Srinivasa is a qualified medical doctor from Government Medical College, Mysore

-He is married to Mrs. Ashwini, and they are proud parents of two sons.

The Consulate General of India, Los Angeles celebrated Hindi Diwas 2026 at the Consulate premises with the participation of students, Hindi teachers and members of the Indian-American community.

The celebration honored the Hindi language that connects generations, communities and cultures, bringing together young learners and educators who are contributing to the promotion and continued learning of Hindi in the United States.


Consul General Dr. K. J. Srinivasa addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of encouraging younger generations of the Indian diaspora to remain connected with Hindi and India’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

The programme featured a series of student presentations and reflections on Hindi, during which participating students shared their thoughts, experiences, perspectives, and poems on the importance of the language. The presentations provided young learners an opportunity to demonstrate their Hindi speaking skills and express their connection with the language.

The Consulate also recognized the contribution of Hindi teachers in the United States who have dedicated their time and efforts to teaching and promoting the language among younger generations. Consul General Dr. K. J. Srinivasa felicitated the teachers with shawls and certificates in appreciation of their contribution to keeping Hindi vibrant within the Indian-American community.

Community leader Sunil Agrawal, who coordinated the program with the consulate, highlighted the importance of language as a bridge between generations. Mr. Agrawal has been associated with several organizations, including HSS, DCF, Lotus Festival, and Friends of MP. He also serves as the President and Chairman of the Indian Association of Los Angeles (IALA).



All participating students were presented with certificates of participation by the Consul General. Three students were also recognized with special awards for their performances and participation during the Hindi Diwas programme. The Hindi Diwas celebration reflected the Consulate’s continued efforts to engage with the Indian diaspora and encourage younger generations to appreciate, learn and promote Indian languages and cultural traditions in the United States.
