NRI Chandrika Tandon

NRI Chandrika Tandon is a globally recognized business leader, GRAMMY® Award winning artist, and humanitarian. Her stated mission is to elevate human happiness through music and education – working on the dual prongs of emotional and economic well-being.
Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon (Krishnamurthy; born 1954) is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and 2 time Grammy-nominated musician. She is widely recognized for her achievements in business, becoming the first Indian-American woman to be elected partner at McKinsey & Company.
In 2015, Chandrika Tandon and her husband, Ranjan Tandon, made a historic $100 million donation to the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. This generous contribution, the largest ever made by an Indian American in the U.S., led to the institution being renamed the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
Tandon has held key leadership roles as a trustee at New York University and NYU Langone Health. She has also been actively involved with the American India Foundation, served on Yale University’s President's Council on International Activities, and contributed to the President’s Advisory Council at the Berklee College of Music. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Governors at the New York Academy of Sciences.
Beyond her business and philanthropic endeavors, Tandon is a skilled composer and vocalist, having trained under masters in Hindustani, Carnatic, and Western musical traditions.
Her debut album, Soul Call, released in 2009, earned a Grammy nomination for Contemporary World Music in 2011. In 2024, she launched her latest album, Triveni, which was nominated for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album at the Grammys.
Tandon has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, Olympiastadion, Lobkowicz Palace, and the National Mall during the World Culture Festival.
