The UK's Bollywood Ambassador, Honey Kalaria, was awarded a Doctorate of Arts from The University of East London on Wednesday 24 November. The Bollywood choreographer, dancer, singer, model and actress, was presented with her Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the Chancellor of UEL, Lord Rix, in recognition of her services to the arts as a leading exponent and teacher of modern Indian dance

As one of the UK's most successful and influential dance trainers, she has coached thousands into outstanding professional performers. Her unique teaching techniques have also helped some of today's biggest stars.

Honey Kalaria has been in the entertainment business since she was 13. Now she's an actor, model and leading face on the Bollywood dance scene.

This glamorous and beautiful star possesses a wealth of talent that she portrays through her dancing, choreography, modelling, acting and singing. Regular performances are made by Honey both nationally and internationally and she is often contracted to perform alongside top Indian stars such as Govinda, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. Her expertise has led other Acting and Dance Institutions such as 'The Shiva Acting Academy' to hire her as a teacher.

As a result of her high standard of work and professionalism, Honey has given interviews and performed on BBC, Channel 5, Live TV, Zee TV. Asia Net, Namaste Television, GLR, Sunrise Radio, Spectrum Radio and various other media outlets throughout the world. The press, which ranges from the local, Asian and National, also provides regular coverage of her work. In addition, Honey has been involved directly with the media by having worked as a presenter and a producer for Namaste Television, as well as presenting for a local radio station.

She appeared with her dancers in the 'Spirit in the Sky' single by Gareth Gates and the Kumars at No 42.

The star has also moved into the dance business - she launched her own dance academy in her garage a few years ago.

She now has eight schools teaching modern Bollywood, Bhangra and Indian classical dance.
