2012 Annual SABAN Awards

Los Angeles, CA - SABAN (South Asian Business Alliance Network) held its 6th Annual business showcase, gala award and entertainment night of South Asians in America's largest business event SABAN 2012, (South Asian Biz Award Night) on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the world class Sheraton Hotel of Los Angeles Downtown, California.  

The theme of this year’s event was “South Asians, best of the east and the west,"  the vibrant and diverse community to build business image, conserve the heritage, and celebrate the success of business.  The South Asian Americans are dedicated to create the SOUTH ASIAN AMERICAN MARKET (SAAM) as an integral part of national economy.  SABAN is working towards business harmony and establishing a common goal of economic stability, growth, and prosperity of America & business world.  

The event was a successful event of over 200 plus attendees & joined the business showcase from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm; the reception mixer at 6:00 pm, the award gala night at 7:00 pm, and the Bollywood entertainment after 9:00 pm.  The main attraction was the award gala dinner at the Pacific Ballroom attended by guests, award winners and their family and friends.
The gala event started with the opening speech by Ms. Fatima Hasan, the President of SABAN Board of Directors. The Chief Guest & speaker was the Hon. Congressman Ed Royce of  California 40th. District.  Also, joined by Sherman Gay, Business Development Officer of Metro, Los Angeles, CA.  The Emcee of the event was Hollywood & Bollywood comedian & actress Rasika Mathur.

The main attraction was the SOUTH ASIAN BUSINESS AWARDS presentations and the recipients at the gala event.  The different best South Asian category awards went to Vicky Summogum, of Healthcare Resource Group as the innovative entrepreneur; Ravi Renduchintala, of HomeUnion Services, as the emerging entrepreneur; Jasmine Ali of Bay Systems, as the women entrepreneur; Falgun Dave of Avatar Solar, as the Indo-American entrepreneur, Mahbano Khan of Shahnawaz Restaurant, as Pakistani American Entrepreneur, Parvez Hawlader of ING Financial, as Bangladeshi American Entrepreneur, Ashraf Ahmed of Pacific Realty Services as Small Business Entrepreneur, the best South Asian entrepreneur award went to Sunil Tolani of Prince Organization, Inc., and the South Asians Favorite Corporation/Public Agency award went to Metro, Los Angeles, CA. The Chairman’s award to help and volunteers of the event went to Anita Ahmed & Palak Pancholi.  

The Chairman of event was Dalip Sethi, President  of Singh Chevrolet, Riverside, CA; the event Executive Director was Mohammed Islam, the Award Committee Chair was Prakash Pancholi, Media Chair was Dilip Butani, and the other event team members were Bruce Ferguson, Smita Vasant, Anita Ahmed, Tarik Babu, Alima, LaQiya Islam, & many others. The major sponsors of the events were: The Metro, Prince Organization, HCRG, Bay Systems, MARRS Services, HomeUnion Services, Tardasia Hotels, & others. The evening concluded with meeting, greeting with the business and corporate leaders and business networking, photo options, press interviews and an after party.
