RAJPUT ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Rajput Association of America (RAOA) celebrated 25th Anniversary
with a great pomp and show at Tandoor, Cuisine of India, in Orange,
CA on July 18, 2009. RAOA was formed by a group of Rajput community
members on February 17, 1984 when they felt the need for Rajput
community to have some identity for its future generation. It has
since flourished into a large group that holds community picnics,
religious functions as well as fund raising for helping other communities.
July 18 celebration was attended by over 250 people including Anaheim
City Council Member Harry Sidhu and Orange County Assistant Clerk
of the Board Hugh Nguyen. Mr. Sidhu congratulated the Rajput Community
for its solid bond for 25 years and presented a proclamation from
the City of Anaheim to the president Rajesh Dhunna. Mr. Sidhu also
released the Souvenir marking the 25th anniversary of the Rajput
Association.
Mr. Hugh Nguyen was impressed by the Rajput community’s cohesiveness
and congratulated them for 25 years of unity. Celebrations included
Bhangra, dances by students of Vandana Ranjan’s Dance School
and a slide show of association’s early day memories. Kewal
Kanda, member, Board of Trustees opened the celebrations with a
brief history of Rajput Association’s formation. Amit Sehdev
and Monica Verma were masters of ceremonies.
