343th Birthday Celebration

 

It was a beautiful sunny morning this Friday December 25, 2009, the IIGS organized Darbar-e-Khalsa program to celebrate 343rd Birthday of 10th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Diamond Bar High School, Diamond Bar, California, USA.

The Parkash ceremony of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji was at 6 AM in the main hall which was tastefully decorated in gold. The stage for Sri Guru Granth Sahib was so professionally done that one could have Darshan of Guru Sahib from a distance as it was on a much higher platform.

At about 6:20 AM Asa Di Vaar kirtan started by Akhand Kirtani Jatha. It lasted till about 9 AM and then after Ardaas, Hukum Nama and Karah Parshaad was distributed to the sangat.

There after Gurbani Shabad Kirtan was recited by Bhai Mohinder Singh, Daljit Singh of Gurdwara Apple Valley followed by another Jatha of Bhai Bhupinder Singh of Gurdwara Alhambra. It was followed by children groups of Gurdwara Buena Park, Gurdwara Walnut, Santa Ana, Riverside, Alhambra, Valley Sikh Temple, Khalsa Care Foundation, Bhai Mardana Academy and GRD Ashram Jadha.

At 10:15 AM the Shabad Kirtan continued by various ragi Jathas i.e. Singhnia da Jatha (West Covina) and Bhai Mardana Institute, Ujjal Didar Singh Ji, Bhai Parnam Singh Patiala Wale, IGS Youth Group, Bhai Ajit Singh Imana, Guru Ram Das Ashram, Bhai Attar Singh Amritsar Wale.

Then there a Kavita was recited by Bhai Hardev Singh and Sathi. Again Gurbani Shabad Kirtan was recited by Bhai Sohan Singh Rasia ji.

Then there were Awards and Honors for distinguish sewa. It followed by Shabad Kirtan again at 12:30 by IGS Jatha, Bhai Gurdeep Sigh Sucha Singh, Bhai Anantvir Singh and Bhai Gurvinder Singh Gurdeep Singh Kashmir wale, followed by joint performance by five local Ragi Jathas.

The closing ceremony was at 2 PM and Sri Guru Granth Saib was sent by Helicopter.

While the program was going on inside the hall, outside in the open there were food stalls and bazaar for shopping. For snacks fresh and tasty Chana Bhathuras and Jalebis were being prepared and served hot along with other sweets by valley group. Also fresh Pakauds and hot tea was being distributed by Riverside group. Later on fresh and delicious Guru ka Langer was served by Paul Ghotra of Diamond Place, India Cusine of Diamon Bar, CA.

There are about 20- 30 booths, where all kind of Indian clothing for men, women and children, Jewellary, religious books, Shabad Kirtan tapes, Karah, Kangha, Kirpan and Khandas were available to buy.

It was like a mela. Thousands people celebrate Birthday of 10th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and everyone enjoyed the day.
