BALJINDER TAHIM IS NEW FIA-SC PRESIDENT FOR 2012-13

Federation of Indo-American Associations of America (FIA-SC) unanimously elected Baljinder Tahim as its new president for the year 2012-13 on Friday, November 09, 2012.

Email notice was sent to all members to gather at the India House Restaurant in Buena Park, CA, on Friday evening, November 09, 2012, to elect the new FIA-SC executive committee for the year 2012-13. Ishwar Deedwania, a senior member and past president/chairman acted as Election Officer. Other senior members and past presidents Ajoy Dube, Kewal Kanda, Ajmer Singh, and Rajinder Dhunna were also present to witness the election. Ishwar Deedwania asked interested members to fill out nomination forms. When all the formalities were completed it was concluded that no one is competing against any other contestant for the same post. The election officer declared the whole new committee elected unanimously. After the election members enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant. The elected members of the executive committee then selected a sub-committee to assist them in carrying out their obligations. The executive committee decided that the installation of all newly elected members will be done on November 21, 2012 at Tandoor, Cuisine of India, in Orange CA.

On Wednesday, November 21, 2012, the newly elected committees, past presidents, prominent members of UFICA, friends, and relatives of elected members gathered at Tandoor Restaurant to take the oath of office or to witness that. Dr. Prakash Narain, Mayor Pro-tem - City of Cypress, was requested to administer the oath of office. Dr. Narain gladly accepted the invitation and administered the Oath of Office to all newly elected committee members. The following is the new FIA-SC executive committee and sub-committee for the year 2012-13;

After the oath taking ceremony, outgoing president and new chairperson Aparna Hande thanked the prior year’s committee for their outstanding support and job well done during 2011-12. She also thanked members of UFICA for their splendid support and partnership in hosting two successful functions. Outgoing chairman Rajinder Dhunna also thanked the outgoing committee members and introduced the new committee to the audience. The newly elected president Baljinder Tahim then took the podium and thanked the outgoing president and chairman. He promised to work hard to the best of his ability to fulfill his obligations as president. He told his committee members, even though he will be called the president, he will work as a team player and make sure to take everyone into his confidence before any decision is made. Mr. Tahim’s friends and relatives spoke highly of him and said FIA-SC took the right step in electing Baljinder as its president. Baljinder Singh has been member of FIA-SC for many years and has worked diligently throughout those years. With his tireless work he has won many admirers, friends,  and well wishers. He was an executive Vice President in previous committee.

Dr. Prakash Narian, Mayor Pro-tem City of Cypress congratulated President Baljinder Tahim and his team. Dr. Narain spoke very highly of FIA-SC and said it is doing many good things for the community and urged them to continue doing so. He also thanked the committee for giving him the honor to administer the oath of office.

Past president/chairman Kewal Kanda was Master of Ceremonies and handled the proceedings beautifully. All events went as planned. The dinner for the night was hosted by Baljinder’s aunt Anne Tahim who is a renowned CPA in Orange County. She offered Baljinder every help he would need to make sure the accounts are kept properly under his presidency. UFICA members congratulated Baljinder Tahim on his election as president and promised full support to him. The evening ended with networking among attendees. The sumptuous dinner was catered by the Tandoor Restaurant.  

Baljinder Singh Tahim has dedicated so many years to FIA of hard work and commitment. He is originally from Sarhali, Punjab and came to United States in 1999 along with his wife Mrs. Parvinder Tahim and two beautiful sons name Gurpreet S. Tahim and Manpreet S. Tahim. Mr. Tahim is well known in a Sikh community where he participates in the Gurudwara seva on regular basis. He has been very successful in his BPG telecom business.
