Richmond’s Number Five Road is home to about 25 places of worship of different denominations. It is popularly known as our Highway to Heaven (H2HA). On this stretch of few kilometers between Steveston Highway and Bridgeport Road, we have a number of
Christian churches, Lingayen Mountain Temple (Buddhist), Tibetan Monastery, two Hindu Temples, a Gurdwara (India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas), A mosque (Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre), A Jewish Day School, two Christian schools, Islamic Academy and a Punjabi School. Consequently, H2HA is a very popular place for visitors from all over. This is more so in case of students from all over Metro Vancouver. As part of studying comparative religions, H2HA is a living lab. In one visit to H2HA the students can learn about most of the world's major religions. Managements of most of these places of worship welcome students and other guests with open arms. As the schools begin their new school year, we see a lot of groups who visit H2HA and learn about various religions.

Vancouver’s Mission Adventures is one of the educational institutions whose students visit H2HA in general and India Cultural Centre of Canada Gurdwara Nanak Niwas, 8600 #5 Road in particular every year. This year again, 20 of their students, led by leader/teacher
Annabella visited Gurdwara Nanak Niwas on July 30. On behalf of the Gurdwara management, they were warmly welcomed by President Mohan Singh Sandhu and Chairperson Mrs. Kashmir Kaur Johal. This group was keen to learn more about Sikhism
and the South Asian community. Furthermore, they wanted to learn about the Punjabi community and culture. As part of their visit, these students enjoyed having a delicious langar. All of them thoroughly enjoyed their visit. As a token of their appreciation the students presented a bouquet of flowers to Mrs. Johal and thanked the Gurdwara management for a very warm welcome.

Goodwill gestures and acts like this go a long way in promoting a very positive image of our community and our places of worship. Richmond’s H2HA in general and Gurdwara Nanak Niwas in particular is very pleased to promote such activities.
