Dr. Balwant Singh Dhillon is a renowned scholar and historian. He was in Surrey on Friday, September 23 as keynote speaker at a function  sponsored by the Canadian Sikh Studies Society.

Dr. Dhillon has worked with eminent researcher and author of the Nanak Shahi Calendar, Mr. Paul Singh Purewal. Unfortunately, Mr. Purewal has just passed away. Dr. Dhillon paid a very fitting tribute to Mr. Purewal. Dr. Dhillon, along with some of the invited guests released three books-two by him and one by Mr. Purewal.

The attendees included leaders of most of the local gurdwaras and some prominent members of the community and journalists. It was a great honour to meet Dr. Dhillon and listen to his presentation. Balwant Sanghera
