The Gandhi International Institute for Peace (GIIP) in Hawaii, founded on the principles
of nonviolence as espoused by Mahatma Gandhi, stands steadfast in solidarity with the
families and loved ones of the 26 Hindu tourists who tragically lost their lives in
Pahalgam, Kashmir, India, on April 22, 2025, and with the families and loved ones of
the over 240 Christians who were murdered during Easter week while worshiping in
Nigeria in April 2025.
Our hearts go out to all families impacted by these acts of violence anywhere in the
world. We are deeply moved by these profound losses. Perpetrators around the world
have committed heinous crimes against humanity, turning their violence on innocent
souls across the globe, leaving behind a trail of pain and suffering.
At GIIP, we stand resolutely alongside all those working tirelessly for a just peace for
peoples and nations involved in conflict or suffering its devastating effects. We implore
everyone to embrace Gandhi's philosophy of love, recognizing that we are all brothers
and sisters under the same divine parentage. This belief is not merely an abstract
concept but a call to action—a call to transform our personal lives and, by extension, the
world around us.
Let us collectively rise above hate, fear, and division. Let us work towards harmony
within ourselves and others, understanding that as Mahatma Gandhi once said: "We but
mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the
world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also
change..."
Join with us in this sacred endeavor. Let your actions today reflect a commitment to
peace and understanding. Together, let us create a world where every individual is
valued, respected, and loved.
GIIP is a non-profit organization based in Honolulu. For more information about the
