Thiruvananthapuram, June 10, 2010
Australia's national carrier Qantas has implemented Indian IT company IBS Group's web-based cargo management solution in its international air freight division, Qantas Freight, IBS said here Thursday.
The airline has thus migrated its global cargo sales, reservations and capacity management functions to the iCargo platform of IBS.
iCargo is designed to meet the requirements of full freighter carriers, passenger and cargo combination carriers, ground handling agents and customs authorities.
Based here, IBS is a global provider of new generation IT solutions to the travel, transportation and logistics industries specializing in airlines and airports that help them increase safety, maximize efficiency, improve revenue, manage growth and reduce costs.
V K Mathews, chairman of the Technopark headquartered IBS Group, said, Qantas' choice of iCargo was an endorsement of "our joint vision to create the most definitive cargo management system for the air transport industry."
"We expect to bring further business value to Qantas Freight through the implementation of the ground handling and terminal operations modules in the coming year," said Mathews.
IBS operates from 12 global business centres in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
