Two NRIs from
US swimmer selected for India team in Doha 2006 Asian
Games
India's Swimming Federation has selected
two NRIs (out of six probables) from US for Indian swimmers
to attend the coaching camp for the Doha Asian Games.
The federation says it has got reasons to be optimistic
about the chances of the University of Southern California
student. Poseria has been coached by Dave Salo, who
was in charge of the American national swimming team
in the past and had handled swimming wizards like Michael
Phelps and Ian Crocker.

- Indians include:
- Arjun Muralidharan of Police, completed a hat-trick
of "Best Swimmer" titles
- Veerdhaval Khade of Maharashtra
- Rehan Poncha (Karnataka)
- Shikha Tandon of Karnataka among women.
The Doha 2006 Asian Games will take place
in and around Doha, Qatar, December 1-15, 2006
NRI Ankur Poseria and Nilasha Ghosh swimmers
continue to train under their respective American Olympian
coaches and we will be monitoring their progress too,"
Nanavati added.

Ankur Poseria has recorded 55.68 seconds in 100 metres
butterfly at a US completition while the Asian Games
third place finish stands at 53.56 secs.
Poseria is excited about being part of the Indian squad
and believes the experience he has gained from Salo,
and at his university, would stand him in good stead.
