Southall, April 01, 2005
More than 15,000 people are expected to celebrate
one of the biggest festivals in the Sikh calendar
this weekend at Southall
Superintendent Laura Nicholson, of Ealing Borough
Police, explained: "Local policing arrangements
of approximately 100 police officers will be in place
to help preserve the dignity of this religious procession.
We will be working with our partners to ensure that
those people who are celebrating can do so safely,
whilst minimising the disruption to the rest of the
community. The additional police officers on duty
in and around Southall will ensure that this is a
safe and peaceful time."
