In a powerful display of solidarity, the Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast (SCCEC) and the American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) have thrown their support behind the ongoing farmers' protest in India. The resounding endorsement came during a convention held at Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar in Carteret, New Jersey.

Central to their demands, the Sikh organizations issued a fervent plea to the Indian government, urging the passage of an ordinance to legalize the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Notably, the call extends beyond mere legalization, as they advocate for comprehensive MSP coverage to encompass all input costs. Additionally, the Sikh groups are advocating for the inclusion of a 50 percent overhead premium for 23 different crops, ensuring fair compensation for farmers.

Among the resolutions unanimously adopted during the convention, one stands out prominently—the call for the dismissal of the Union Minister whose son faced serious allegations. The son was accused of recklessly running his car over protesting farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district in a tragic incident that unfolded in October 2021. The Sikh organizations demand accountability and justice in response to this grievous incident.

Furthermore, the convention attendees underscored their commitment to the cause by unanimously calling for the withdrawal of all criminal cases against the farmers implicated in the Lakhimpur incident. This resolution reflects their unwavering support for the farming community facing legal repercussions amid their struggle for fair treatment and economic justice.

The gathering at Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar served as a poignant testament to the global resonance of the farmers' protest, with the Sikh diaspora in the United States lending its voice to the collective call for justice and reforms in India's agricultural sector.

As the diaspora organizations rally behind the farmers' cause, their resolutions echo the sentiments of a community deeply connected to its agricultural roots, urging the Indian government to address the pressing concerns and pave the way for a more equitable future for farmers across the nation.
