Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs launched the official website for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention. Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh was also present at the launch event.
The PBD Convention, a flagship initiative of the Government of India, serves as a vital platform to connect with the global Indian diaspora. The 18th edition of this event will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 8–10, 2025, in collaboration with the state government.
The theme for PBD 2025 is “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” emphasizing the role of overseas Indians in India’s development journey. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, and President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the valedictory session, presenting the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards. A special Youth PBD segment, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will also feature in the program.
The newly launched website allows participants to register online, reserve accommodations, and access details about the event. Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare of the 35-million-strong Indian diaspora, expressing confidence in their continued contribution to India’s progress.
Chief Minister Majhi extended a warm invitation to the diaspora to explore Odisha’s rich cultural and historical heritage, encouraging robust participation in the event.
