Social media was rife with speculation on Wednesday, claiming that Goldy Brar, the prime accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, had been shot dead in Fresno, California.
Initial reports suggested that Brar was among two individuals who were reportedly killed in Central Farojona a few days ago. However, the Fresno Police Department swiftly issued a clarification, asserting that the shooting incident in Fresno was not linked to the gang killing case in India.
Contrary to social media rumors, the victim of the Fresno shooting was identified as 37-year-old Xavier Gladney, according to local news outlet Fresno Bee. The police department emphasized that they were inundated with inquiries from international media outlets and were actively working to dispel any misinformation regarding the incident's connection to Brar or the Sidhu Moosewala case.
The Fresno Police Department's clarification aimed to quell the speculation surrounding Brar's alleged involvement in the shooting, reaffirming that the incident was unrelated to the ongoing investigation into Moosewala's murder.
In a surprising turn of events, recent reports suggesting the demise of Goldy Brar, a key figure in the Punjabi underworld and a suspect in the murder case of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, have been denied by the Fresno Police Department in California.
The speculation arose following reports claiming that Brar had met a violent end in the United States, purportedly shot dead in an incident on Tuesday, April 30. Allegedly, members of a rival gang, identified as the Dalla Lakhbir gang, opened fire on Brar and his associate outside his residence in Fairmont, Holt Avenue, US, resulting in fatal injuries to one of them.
However, Lieutenant William J. Dooley of the Fresno Police Department has refuted these claims, stating that there is no truth to the rumors circulating online regarding Brar's death. In an email statement, Lieutenant Dooley clarified, "If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming that the shooting victim is ‘Goldy Brar’, we can confirm that this is absolutely not true."
He further elaborated, "We have received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of misinformation being spread on social media and online news agencies. We are not sure who started this rumor, but it caught on and spread like wildfire. But again, it isn’t true. The victim is definitely not Goldy."
The denial from the Fresno Police Department has cast doubt on the validity of the reports surrounding Brar's alleged demise, leaving the investigation into Sidhu Moose Wala's murder case with unanswered questions regarding the whereabouts and involvement of key suspects.
