Patel Loses City Council seat of Emeryville, California

Shilen Patel, 29, environmental consultant, resident of Emeryville
and former chief of staff for Richmond Mayor Irma Anderson, lost
and narrowly missed getting one of three council seats open.
Shilen Pate got 669, incumbent Nora Davis got 783 votes. The two
other council incumbents got 800 and 790 votes, with a fifth candidate
getting 147 votes.
Shilen Patel, a first-time challenger, a progressive candidate,
was endorsed by: Emeryville Police Officers Association, Alameda
County Democratic Party, East Bay Young Democrats, Central Labor
Council of Alameda County, AFL-CIO
Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Asian American Action Fund
- California, Green Party, Sierra Club and
John George Democratic Club.
His Vision for Emeryville was Improving Quality of Life, Protecting
Public Safety and Strengthening the City’s partnership with
Emeryville schools
