Hosted by S. Joginder (Joe) S. Sandhu & Baldev Singh Takhar, S. Gurpartap Singh Wadala was the guest of honor at the Swad of India restaurant in Ontario, Southern California.

Community members from all over Southern California welcomed the Punjab State MLA from the constituency of Nakodar. S. Wadala who is an Electrical Engineer turned politician spoke about the Punjab State Governments successes and missteps. S Wadala spoke about how Punjab State is still the most prosperous State in India, where wages rank among the highest in the country.

He pointed out that people from other States moving to the Punjab is proof enough. Punjab State is fast becoming the destination for countries Medical and Engineering Universities. He acknowledged that the water shortage as well as Air and water pollution is a growing problem in the country and Punjab state has its share of that. He also talked about how illegal drug use is reaching crisis point.

S. Wadala thanked and praised the NRI community for their share in keeping Punjab State as one of the best States in the country. S. Wadala assured the gathering that his party is going through a change upon realization that it needs to do a lot more for the people. He asked for continued support from the NRI community.  

Gurpartap Singh Wadala belongs to Wadala villiage, Jalandhar, Punjab, got his Engineering degree as B.E. (Electrical)

 HIS FATHER KULDIP SINGH WADALA, 86, died with cardiac arrest  in June, 2018

Kuldip Singh Wadala  was belong to a landlord family in Pakistan and moved Srin village in Nakodar. Now his family lives at Wadala village near Jalandhar.

He was very active in party politics, intelligent, strength of character, service to the people, believe in honesty  and patriotism

Kuldip Singh Wadala holds BSc degree in agriculture. He wrote articles in news papers  all the time in 1980-1995 about economies of popular  countries. He is good in English writings

The most popular leaders such as Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Parkash Singh Badal, Jagdev Singh Talwandi, and other taksali leaders   had their meetings in his place. He had also meeting with Harkishan Singh Surjit and Sharad Yadav.

  • 1996: Kuldip Singh Wadala formed his own party SAD (Democratic) due to differences with Badal
  • 2004: Kuldip Singh Wadala’s party SAD (Democratic) merged with the SAD (Badal) again after Badal’s efforts to be one Akali Dal
  • 2007: He had last contested elections from Nakodar in 2007 which he lost.
  • After this his son Gurpartap has been contesting and has won on both occasions.
  • He hold press conferences regularly demanding a safe corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to Kartarpur gurdwala in Pakistan, where Guru Nanak lived for 18 years. 
  • 1985: Kuldip Singh Wadala  became MLA in 1985 defeating his cousin and Congress leader Umrao Singh.
  • 1985/1993: He fought against Umrao Singh and both times he lost

Interestingly, he kept good relationship  even fought against one another three times. Ex-MLA Jagbir Brar’S wife is also closely related to the Wadalas.  His son-in-law Arvinder Bains is an IAS officer while his son Gurpartap Wadala is the Nakodar MLA.
