A small business person, the President of Dynamic Interactions Educational Corporation, a firm that provides training workshops for the private and public sectors
Has been an instructor at the Faculty of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria, an instructor with the Aboriginal Social Work Training Project, a social worker at Nuu-chah-nulth Community and Human Services, a researcher with the Justice Department of Canada (as part of his university studies), and an intake counselor at the Victoria Association for Community Diversion/Mediation
Holds undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Criminology, both awarded Summa Cum Laude
His strong community service record in Port Alberni includes his pivotal work in the development of the Street Worker Program and Drop-In Centre and an organizing role in community outreach programs, in particular, his service on the Suicide Prevention and Intervention Committees and the Committee to End Domestic Violence
Also served on the Advisory Board of the Family Health Centre/Pregnancy Outreach Program
In Victoria, appointed to the Victoria Family Court Committee by the Attorney General and served as the Chair of the Family Matters Committee
A volunteer counsellor at the Greater Victoria Victim Services Society
In Ottawa, was a Director and founding member of the University of Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Criminal Justice Association, an organization that promotes awareness and understanding of criminal justice issues
Apart from the time spent pursuing university studies outside of B.C., has always lived on Vancouver Island, growing up in Victoria and working for approximately 10 years in Port Alberni
