I think this article is reflective of the
status of people on H4 visa. The world is
moving towards becoming more global and it
is important for the immigration authorities
to realize that. I can be in any country and
work for a company in another country. How
are they going to prevent so called job losses.
Protectionist policy is a thing of the past,
I think they should be more open minded to
competition and face it rather than put restrictions
on people.
I'm on H4 status myself and I've been here
for 10 months now volunteering some of my
time. Infact when I came here I did get a
job offer but when my immigration status was
disclosed the employers could not wait for
the quota to open. It indeed gets frustating
at times and I hope women and men on H4 status
can come together to lobby for better opportunities.
Nobody is asking for any preferential treatment
just an opportunity to compete with the rest
of the corporate work force.
With the Indian economy doing so well in anther
20 years we'd have people scrambling to India
for Green cards. Global world!!!!!
An NRI wife.
