Oriental Bank of Commerce tried to
seal the properties of Deol family. NRI Sabha district
president Pritam Singh Deol and his two sons from
Toronto have been booked for five cases of hawala
transactions.
Oriental Bank Manager Vinay Singhal who led the operation
said, The Deols have two accounts in our
bank. In one account, they owe us Rs 62 lakh approximately
and 2nd account, the outstanding amount is Rs 1.7
crore. We had referred the case to Dispute Redressal
Tribunal, Chandigarh. We had also decided to seal
the properties to recover the amount."
When I reached there to seal the properties, I was
told to stop the operation as some family members
of Deols had presented a third party ownership deed
and a stay order from the court. The properties in
question include a 1.5 acre farm near Mullanpur and
a house in Vishal Nagar. Deol family took the loan
for investing in their automobile business in 2000
and they stopped making the required payment to the
bank.
