Ohio NRI Rajesh Soin, Software Developer, opened Multi-Speciality Hospital in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, December 30, 2007
Col. M. Mehta

Ohio-based NRI Rajesh K. Soin set up 55-bed multi-specialty non-profit hospital, with facilities for 24-hour intensive care unit (ICU) and emergency trauma services, started operations Saturday here at village Banchari in district Faridabad. The hospital was named "Sukhdev Raj Soin Hospital" in the memory of his father, Mr.Sukhdev Raj Soin.

There are more than 100 villages in this area and the most backward districts of Haryana, will benefit from the new hospital.

Interestingly, Mr. Soin originally hails from Jammu city but he chose to set up the Sukhdev Raj Soin hospital in this part of Haryana after land was donated to the hospital trust and the Soin Foundation by the Maharishi Dayanand memorial campus based here.

As the President of Soin Foundation, Mr.Rajesh K. Soin said:

  • He dedicated the hospital to the people of the area and spoke about the life of his father.
  • This hospital would be expended as a 200-bed hospital in future.
  • There was a plan to set up a nursing training centre and a medical college in the area.
  • He had set up the hospital not to earn profit but to provide medical services to the people round-the-clock at an economical rate. Drugs will be made available at highly subsidized rates
  • The new hospital will also have 24-hour intensive care unit and emergency trauma services to accident victims as it is close to the Delhi-Mathura highway.

At the inauguration of the hospital, Ohio Senator George Voinovich and Congressmen Mike Turner, Phil Gingrey, Rob Bishop and Steve Pearce were present.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Haryana Power Minister said we are proud of NRI Mr.Rajesh Soin, the President of the Soin Foundation is one of very few people who set up hospitals, schools, dharamshalas and temples and named them after their parents to commemorate their memory.

Kartar Devi, Haryana Health Minister praised Mr. Soin and has assured him of cooperation of the State Government in the smooth functioning of the hospital.

Avtar Singh Badhana, MP unveiled the statue of late Mr.Sukhdev Raj Soin in the complex of the hospital and praised the Soin family for such an initiative which would serve the society in a big way. He said that the Government would provide all assistance to the family in case they plan to set up a medical college in the area.
