Southall restaurant, Madhus owner Sanjay Anand
has been declared 'Industry Personality of the Year'.
It is also won the prestigious 'Best UK Restaurant' award
earlier.
Co-editor of Restaurant Magazine, Mr. Peter Grove, presented
the award, an official release said in London on Thursday
night.Presenting the award, Grove said: "Sanjay Anand
of Madhu's has become an outstanding success in the area
of catering, almost having the Asian wedding sector by
the throat and all this on top of coming back from a potentially
devastating fire at his restaurant." The restaurant,
Madhu was established in Southall in 1980 by the Anand
family and features Punjabi cuisine with a Kenyan Asian
twist. Sanjay started his business at the age of 17 when
he enlisted his mother as head chef in the 36-seat restaurant.
Over the last 20 years Sanjay has transformed Madhu's
into a two-level restaurant that attracted gourmet diners
and celebrities from across Britain. He produces fabulous
sounding signature dishes like nyamah choma, ribs of lamb
marinated in a red chilli paste and machuzi kuku, a chicken
dish simmered in a cinnamon and clove spiked broth. The
Guide features over 1000 of the best Indian restaurants
in the UK and each year gives special awards to the most
outstanding restaurants in the country. Pat Chapman, editor
of the Good Curry Guide, who was also on hand to give
out the prizes, commented "It's a great pleasure
to recognise the elite Indian restaurants that have consistently
received positive reports in the Cobra Good Curry Guide".Sanjay
