It's that time of the year when Non Resident Indians
(NRIs) come for a visit to their motherland. They
not only come to meet their near and dear ones but
also to take care of root canals and other dental
problems without burning a hole in their pocket.
The medicos in the city call it medical tourism, while
the visiting NRIs call it a bargain as they are able
to get quality dental treatment for cheap prices.
One of the leading dentists in Surat, Dr Shailesh
Parikh says, A lot of NRIs prefer to get
their teeth treated in India as it means a good treatment
at reduced cost. There are some NRI families who are
our regular patients. Everytime they visit Surat,
a family member comes for treatment.
Parikh adds, The prices in India are
one-tenth of the charges in US. Here we can have a
crown for Rs 3,500 while in the US it costs $ 4,000.
However, most NRIs prefer dental treatment in India
